Wayferers #1: The Long Way to a Small, Angry Planet by Becky Chambers

Was suggested this book by a few people, and wasn’t sure about it as it was listed very high on books recommended by the LGBTQ+ community. Have nothing against that community, but being straight wasn’t sure how reading a work like that would sit with me.
Broke open the book, and it seemed I blinked and 120 pages flew by. Storyline is absolutely flawless and the crew of the Wayfarer click with you almost like they are your real family. Normally I love Sci-Fi books with a ton of action like The Expanse, which in this novel you get precious little of for the exception of the Quelin boarding the Wayfarer and KOing the captain. Even with the little action, the story is so well constructed that you don’t even miss it.
This is potentially one of the best books I’ve ever read. I get the subtle nuances it makes to get people to understand the LGBTQ+ community better, which in my honest opinion is what books are all about: teaching through story! Putting you in someone else's shoes.
